Georgia Tech practiced in full pads on Tuesday for the first time during fall camp. The team didn't go full tilt into contact opting instead to work on formation recognition. Most of the contact work came in an option drill.
Some of the freshman had a good showing in their first day in pads. Quarterback Justin Thomas had a couple of long runs for touchdowns according to Paul Johnson. Thomas is likely to redshirt this season given the depth of players in front of him but Johnson was pleased that he is already flashing the athletic ability that the coaching staff saw when they were recruiting him.
"He's lost right now," Johnson said. "But he's very quick and fast. He's got ability like we thought."
