Todd Gurley, Marlon Brown Stand Out In Preseason Scrimmage

Georgia held its first scrimmage of the fall at Sanford Stadium on Wednesday and it sounded like a good performance from the Bulldogs' 1st team offensive and defensive units.

Freshman running back Todd Gurley could have been the biggest surprise of the scrimmage finishing with 58 yards and a touchdown on just six carries. Head coach Mark Richt indicated that Gurley may have benefited from running behind the first-team offensive line but his performance was still impressive.

"Todd, he ran the ball well, but he had some good space provided for him at times where some other guys didn't. I mean, Marshall had a great three-yard run one time but that doensn't impress anybody unless you see it in person. I thought all the backs ran well really. There were a cpouple of times I didn't think they hit it like they should have or could have. But it wasn't bad."

Marlon Brown may have had the best statistical day of anyone finishing with six catches, 103 yards and two touchdowns. Brown hauled in both touchdown passes thrown by Aaron Murray and Hutson Mason.

Defensive end Ray Drew sat out the scrimmage while he recovers from a concussion that was suffered earlier in the week.
