The Atlanta Braves have activated shortstop Andrelton Simmons from the disabled list. Simmons broke a finger on the last day before the All-Star break and has been out of action for over two months. He will start at short and hit eighth on Monday night.

Prior to the injury, Simmons hit a solid .296/.336/.452 for the club and collected seven doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI. While Simmons was out, Paul Janish handled most of the work at shortstop, and the difference at the plate was stark, as Janish is hitting just .188/.268/.236 in 2012. Simmons will not only inject a little more life into the Braves offense, he also fields the ball well.
