Georgia Tech To Reveal Bobby Dodd Statue On Friday

Legendary head coach Bobby Dodd will have his statue unveiled on Friday, one day before the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets play host to the Virginia Cavaliers at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

If you're going to be around the area on Friday and want to check it out, here's what's going to happen, and where:

Georgia Tech, in conjunction with Dodd's Boys, will unveil a statue of legendary head coach Bobby Dodd on Friday, Sept. 14. The statue of Dodd kneeling will be 54 inches tall and rest on a pedestal approximately five feet tall. The statue will be placed on Callaway Plaza at the north end of Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Dodd is one of just three people to be elected to the College Football Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach. Dodd was the head coach of the Yellow Jackets between 1945-1966, leading Georgia Tech to two SEC titles and one national championship. Dodd's career record as a coach stands at 165-64-8, and the Hall of Fame coach had a 9-4 record in bowl games.

Certainly, the statue is well deserved for Dodd and his family.
