Georgia Tech's Brandon Watts has impressed coaches and teammates alike in his first six games starting at outside linebacker. With his size, speed and agility, Watts is able to play in multiple packages for the Yellow Jackets.
Coach Paul Johnson said Watts may be the fastest player on the team in pads, which normally is said about running backs, wide receivers and sometimes defensive backs and special teams players. Not outside linebackers.
"There's football speed and there's track speed," Johnson said. "He's got football speed. He's a really good starter and can go zero from 60 really fast."
Watts told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he is "very comfortable" with being a starter and his role in the 3-4 defense.
