Virginia Vs. Georgia Tech Score: Yellow Jackets Running Over Cavs, 35-7 At Half

Georgia Tech leads Virginia 35-7 at half in Atlanta this Saturday afternoon. The Ramblin' Wreck has been near unstoppable with the ball and wasted no time visiting the end zone - quarterback Tevin Washington hit Zach Laskey for a 70-yard touchdown on the Yellow Jackets' first play from scrimmage less than a minute into the game.

After forcing a Virginia punt, Georgia Tech took a whole two plays to score again with 11:08 remaining in the quarter. Orwin Smith broke a run off the right side for a 76-yard touchdown.

The Cavaliers responded with an eight-play drive that ended in a 19-yard touchdown pass from Michael Rocco to Jake McGee. The Yellow Jackets struck right back with an eight-play touchdown drive of their own; Washington took one run for 60 yards and finished it off with a 1-yard score. Another Virginia punt led to another Georgia Tech scoring drive to begin the second quarter: 10 rushes, no passes, ending in a 1-yard touchdown for Vad Lee.

Virginia's Khalek Shepherd returned the ensuing kickoff to the Georgia Tech 20, yet the Cavaliers went 4-and-out. Their only consolation was forcing the Yellow Jackets to punt for the first time with 2:50 to go in the half. Rocco was then intercepted at the Virginia 44 with 50 seconds to go in the half; Georgia Tech drove the ball down for another Washington rushing touchdown with three seconds remaining on the clock.

In true Paul Johnson style, Washington is 4-of-6 through the air for 110 yards and a score, with nine carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Smith has carried the ball three times for 100 yards and a score; Georgia Tech has 277 yards on the ground as a team.
