Vanderbilt Vs. Georgia: Freshman Jordan Jenkins Impressing Early

Jordan Jenkins might only be a true freshman, but the talented linebacker from Hamilton, Ga., has already earned a start for the Georgia Bulldogs and is turning heads.

Some considered Jenkins the No. 1 prospect in the state of Georgia out of high school. He was destined to play as a freshman for Georgia -- he cited early playing time as a reason for choosing the Bulldogs over Alabama -- but the start against Florida Atlantic was a surprise this early in his career. Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham told the Athens Banner-Herald:

Jordan’s a good player, and he’s going to continue to get better. (Saturday’s) game is good for him. The more guys play, the more depth you create. And you can mix and match packages as you move down the road, so I think he played well. I think he’s a very mature guy for his age, and he’ll continue to get better the more he plays, so we’re just going to continue to play him and develop him.

The 6'3 linebacker has nine tackles, one for a loss, as well as four quarterback hurries and a pass deflection for the Bulldogs.
