2012 Tour Championship: Bubba Watson And Matt Kuchar Solid In Round One

The first day of the 2012 Tour Championship from East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta is in the books. After Thursday's opening round of play, former University of Georgia golfer Bubba Watson is currently tied for 12th place after shooting a 69 on the day and finishing at 1-under par.

Watson is not alone in that position as he finds himself tied with Ryan Moore, Jim Furyk, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy.

Former Georgia Tech golfer Matt Kuchar finished the day in a slightly better position than Watson. Kuchar is currently in a four-way tie for third place after shooting a 67 on Thursday and finishing the first round at 3-under par. Kuchar is tied with Scott Piercy, Bo Van Pelt and Steve Stricker.

Atop the leaderboard after the first round sits Tiger Woods who is tied for the lead with Justin Rose. Both golfers shot an opening round 66 on Thursday and ended the day at 4-under par.
