Vanderbilt Vs. Georgia: John Theus Staying At RT For Now

Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle John Theus has started the first three games at right tackle as a true freshman. Even though head coach Mark Richt has been shuffling his lineman, he has no plans to do that with Theus. When interviewed by Jonathan Branch of Dog Bytes Online, Richt explained his reasoning for not moving Theus:

"For a true freshman, you're just trying to get him ready to play, period. The assignments probably wouldn't be as much of an issue as just learning how to pass set from the left side. He's gotten so many quality reps on the right. It's hard to throw a guy over there (at left tackle) especially as a freshman."

Theus is also still adjusting to playing at the college level:

"I think I've gotten better each week. The way to get better by doing something is by doing it. Throughout the reps and the learning, it's a process. Practice and scrimmages, you learn a lot, but you never learn like you do in a game when stuff happens."

Theus and the Bulldogs play the Vanderbilt Commodores at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
