Atlanta Falcons defensive end Ray Edwards was fined $8,000 by the NFL for his part in the skirmish between the Falcons and Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. So far, Edwards is the only one penalized out of a crew from both sides involved in the confrontation.
There was a six-minute delay late in the first quarter after a Broncos fumble, a period that saw an official get hit and coaches leaving the sideline to contest the situation.
Edwards was seen throwing punches during the skirmish and appeared to inadvertently hit one of the replacement referees in the process. The referees were the biggest storyline following the game because of their inability to maintain order and make calls efficiently.
