NASCAR at Dover 2012: Sprint Cup Championship Chase continues

Dover International Speedway will host the third race of the Sprint Cup Championship series Sunday.

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Chase for the Sprint Cup championship continues on Sunday at Dover International Speedway. Jimmie Johnson is the points leader after finishing second at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday.

After two races, the top six drivers are already separating themselves from the rest of the playoff field. While there are five drivers within 15 points of Johnson, seventh-place Dale Earnhardt Jr. is 26 points back.

Denny Hamlin, who won Sunday's race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, is seven points behind Johnson, but despises the Dover track and doesn't seem to have confidence going into the race.

Hamlin had this to say about the track, courtesy of the Associated Press.

"I just don't like the place. I'm not comfortable there. I go there believing if we have a great day, we'll run somewhere around 15th."

Tony Stewart (-10), Kasey Kahne (-15) and Clint Bowyer (-15) are also in the hunt for the championship. Sunday's race begins at 2:15 ET.
