Georgia native and Masters winner Bubba Watson will look to help captain Tiger Woods defend American turf this week outside of Chicago at the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club.
The event has been largely dominated by Europe in recent years, which has won six of the last eight meetings, and will feature match play between two 12-man teams for the U.S. and the Europeans (check out a quick history lesson and a detailed explanation of play here).
Watson and Woods will be joined by an All-Star lineup of Americans, including Jason Dufner, Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Fed Ex Cup winner Brandt Snedeker and Dustin Johnson.
For his part, Watson is doing his best to court a nation of sports fans currently distracted by a certain situation:
All @nfl fans watch the Ryder Cup this week, we got no refs. #USA
