MTSU Vs. Georgia Tech: Jeremiah Attaochu, Louis Young sit out loss with injuries

The absence of two of Georgia Tech's best defensive players certainly didn't help the Yellow Jackets in a blowout loss

Middle Tennessee had little trouble on offense on Saturday, torching Georgia Tech for 510 yards, but the Blue Raiders' explosion was augmented by the absence of Yellow Jackets outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu and cornerback Louis Young.

Attaochu, who has 17 tackles this season, was held out with an undisclosed injury, and Young, who has two tackles this year, was out with an upper-body injury.

Altogether, the Georgia Tech defense couldn't stop a soul on Saturday, including Attaochu's replacement, redshirt freshman Tyler Marcodes, who missed several tackles and was replaced at the end of the first half.

Inside linebacker Quayshawn Nealy told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the loss of Attaochu affected the Yellow Jackets in a major way.

“[Attaochu’s absence] affected us, but then again the next guy should be able to step up and take his place,” Nealy said. “I feel like we’re a brotherhood out there. We live off each other. It didn’t affect us.”

Attaochu also missed a pair of games in 2011 with a lower-leg injury.
