Brad Keselowski Stretches The Gas, Wins AAA 400 At Dover International Speedway

Tony Stewart once put it so eloquently: "Fuel mileage racing sucks."

Unfortunately sometimes in stock car racing the finish comes down not to who has the fastest race car and does the best job of wheeling it, but the driver who happens to have the most gas in the tank with the best track position at the end of the day.

Kyle Busch dominated the race but didn't have enough fuel and finished seventh. Denny Hamlin ran second nearly all day and was one spot worse. Brad Keselowski did have enough gas in his No.2 Penske Racing Dodge to make it to the checkered flag and win the AAA 400 at the Dover International Speedway. It is Keselowski's fifth victory of the 2012 season, his ninth career win, and his first triumph on the Monster Mile.

Jeff Gordon finished second, Mark Martin came home third, Jimmie Johnson backed his pace off enough to finish fourth after leading with 40 laps remaining, and Carl Edwards picked up his first top-five since the fifth race of the season at the Auto Club Speedway and just his third all year.

Martin Truex Jr. took sixth place ahead of the disappointed Joe Gibbs Racing duo of Busch and Hamlin. Clint Bowyer finished ninth, while Joey Logano rounded out the top-10.

With his second win of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, Keselowski takes a five-point edge on Johnson. Hamlin fell 16 points back by not having enough gas to get to the checkered flag. Clint Bowyer is fourth, 25 points behind Keselowski, while Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne are tied for fifth at 32 back.
