Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Kris Medlen had a day to remember on Tuesday.
↵First, the Braves right-hander found out he was named National League Pitcher of the Month for the month of August. It capped off a dominant month in which Medlen went 4-0 in five starts, posting a microscopic 0.50 ERA. Medlen struck out 35 and walked just four batters in 35 2/3 innings of work.
↵That alone would have made it a great day, but the big news wasn't over for Medlen. When accepting the National League Pitcher of the Month Award on his Twitter feed, Medlen announced that he will be welcoming a son into the world in the upcoming months.
↵Congratulations to Medlen on the award and to the Medlen family for their soon-to-arrive son.
