Tuesday night play at the 2012 U.S. Open has been suspended because of rain in New York City, with at least one match being postponed until Wednesday.
Third-seeded Maria Sharapova had her match suspended and later postponed until Wednesday. Sharapova currently trails Marion Bartoli 4-0 in the first set, but is currently winning the fifth game, 15-30, as she looks to break Bartoli's serve and get back into the first set.
The winner of the match between Sharapova and Bartoli will advance to take on top-seeded Victoria Azarenka, who defeated No. 7 Samantha Stosur, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) to advance to the semifinals.
Andy Roddick's match against Juan Martin del Potro is still currently scheduled for Tuesday night, though it's unknown what time the match will actually begin. It's feasible that rain could postpone the match until tomorrow.
If Roddick loses, that will spell the end of his playing career, as he announced that the 2012 U.S. Open will be the last tournament he participates in.
