The 2012 BMW Championships is the next league of the FedEx Cup, and the tournament is taking place in Carmel, Ind., at the Crooked Stick Golf Club with first round play getting underway on Thursday. This is a big tournament because it includes the top 70 golfers in the FedEx standings, and then at the end of the tournament that list gets cut down to 30 players.
The course at Crooked Stick is 7,497 yards and is a par 72, plus there are four par five and par three holes scattered about the course.
Bubba Watson is currently ranked 10th in the latest FedEx Cup standings, and unless he has a complete collapse he should be one of the top 30 golfers to move onto the Tour Championships in a few weeks. Matt Kuchar is also looking good at moving on as he is No. 13 heading into the BMW Championships.
Other local golfers who are in the mix to move on are Brian Harman who is 51st, Bryce Molder who is 45th, Chris Kirk is 66th and Troy Matteson is 59th. These four golfers will need to have an extraordinary weekend if they want to crack the top 30.
