The Georgia Bulldogs got good news at practice Wednesday as three of their injured players participated for the first time this week. Starting cornerback Malcolm Mitchell wore a no contact jersey but appeared to be moving well. Mitchell, a sophomore from Valdosta, Georgia, missed the season opener against Buffalo with a sprained ankle.
There's no official word yet if he will play in Georgia's SEC opener Saturday at Missouri. If he does, it will be his first start since moving over from wide receiver in the spring. Mitchell was a Freshman All-SEC player at receiver in 2011.
In addition to Mitchell, starting right tackle John Theus and backup Watts Dantzler also participated in Wednesday's practice. Both players are still recovering from sprained ankles. Theus moved well in practice, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, while Dantzler sported more of a limp. Theus, a true freshman, injured himself late in the win over Buffalo. Both linemen were held out of practice Tuesday. In a Monday interview, Georgia coach Mark Richt remained optimistic about their availability against the Tigers.
