Falcons Sign Dominique Franks, Waive Injured Tim Toone

The Atlanta Falcons have signed cornerback Dominique Franks, who was among the final cuts made by the team last week.

Franks had a poor training camp for the Falcons this year, but he was a fan favorite and was considered one of the more surprising cuts made by the team. Franks had a solid year for the Falcons in his second year out of Oklahoma, totaling 20 tackles and two interceptions.

Franks was receiving interest by teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins, but was excited when he received a phone call by Atlanta head coach Mike Smith.

"It's really weird. Sunday, i had a workout with Miami, so I've really just been out of town, doing workouts and things like tha. That's been it, just going on workouts and being out of town. Luckily, I got the call from Coach Smith (Wednesday) night to come back."

To make room on the roster, the Falcons have waived-injured wide receiver Tim Toone. Toone could be placed on injured reserve by the Falcons if he can clear waivers.
