Victory was pretty much a certain going into Saturday's 59-3 win over Presbyterian for Georgia Tech. However, one thing that should have Yellow Jackets fans excited was the performance of redshirt freshman quarterback Vad Lee.
Lee ran for 101 yards and a touchdown and also tossed an 82-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Greene. His rushing total included a run of 79 yards before he was caught from behind. Lee sat out all of the 2011 season as a redshirt and Saturday's game was his first action in a real game since high school. He did not play in the Yellow Jackets season opening loss to Virginia Tech.
Following the game, Lee told the AJC that he was appreciative of the opportunity to finally get on the field:
"I am just happy to have the opportunity to be here and make big plays and showcase my abilities,"
With Tevin Washington a senior, Paul Johnson will likely look for opportunities to get Lee some more on the field experience this season.
