The Atlanta Falcons could be one piece away from winning the Super Bowl, so the 2013 NFL Draft is important for them. They have some aging players at key positions, and they address that issue in SB Nation's newest mock draft by selecting LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery.
This is a pick that's become common place in my mock drafts. Montgomery can push himself higher in the first round with a good Combine showing, but he's never been known as an athletic dynamo. He would give the Falcons some much-needed youth on the line and ease the eventual departure of John Abraham.
Montgomery isn't a freak athlete like his pass rushing partner at LSU, Barkevious Mingo, but he's played regularly and put up numbers since he was a freshman. The Falcons could use a player like Montgomery at defensive end, giving them a shot of youth at a position filled almost entirely with veterans.
For more information on Montgomery, check out his SB Nation scouting report. Last year at LSU, he racked up 37 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and eight sacks.
