MAP: Braves Country Stretches From West Virginia To Louisiana; What About Our Other Teams?

Something called the Common Census Sports Map Project seeks your input as it constructs maps of MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, and college football fandom. You can look at the MLB map to see the Atlanta Braves "Braves Country" marketing campaign was no gimmick, and in fact undersold the team's dominance of Southeastern hearts and minds.

From the other side of the Mississippi River to Tennessee and north Florida and on into the Atlantic Ocean in the middle of the Washington Nationals turf, the Braves run like, what, a ninth of the planet? Wikipediaing this.

Our other teams don't have quite the same extent, but the Atlanta Falcons have a decent footprint. Falcondom spills into Tuscaloosa, Auburn, and western South Carolina, with the encroaching menace of Jacksonville Jaguars fandom picking off the southern portion of our fair state.

The Atlanta Hawks hold down Savannah, while the Atlanta Thrashers are big in Birmingham. See if you can make anything of the college football map, but it looks about like what you'd expect. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets hold down north metro Atlanta and the Georgia Bulldogs the rest of the state, with about 42 SEC and ACC teams manning border regions.
