Talks Between Braves, Dan Uggla Have Slowed Some, But Deal Expected In January

The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo was originally the first to report the Braves were nearing an extension with Dan Uggla, and he has an update for us this Sunday.

In Cafardo's update, he says talks between the two sides have slowed some because Uggla is wanting "a few more dollars," but he expects a deal to be complete the first week of January. I expected talks to slow down since the last update due to the holidays, but I didn't realize Uggla was trying to squeeze out some more money.

The Braves are already taking an unnecessary risk by extending Uggla five years, so getting a few more dollars out of them is ridiculous. I have yet to go into detail as to why I believe five years is too much because I'm waiting for the official announcement saying it will be five years, but you can expect that post to be up the day of the announcement.
