Atlanta native Delino DeShields Jr. was arrested in Athens and charged with DUI, possession of alcohol by a minor, and a traffic violation. DeShields, who played his high school baseball and football at College Park's Woodward Academy, was held for two hours and released on a $2,500 bond according to the Houston Chronicle.
↵The Houston Astros' No. 8 pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, DeShields was recruited to play football by the Georgia Bulldogs, Mississippi Rebels, and others. The LSU Tigers were interested in his baseball talents, but knew he intended to turn pro as soon as possible. He's soon to start playing second base for Single A Lexington but projects as an eventual center fielder in the majors, with blazing speed, a decent bat, and a tolerable arm.
↵His father played for the Expos, Dodgers, Cardinals, Orioles, and Cubs. DeShields Jr. isn't his only child working to develop a sports career, as his daughter Diamond will soon be a top college basketball recruit.
