Atlanta Has The Nation's Sixth-Best Pro Sports Home Field Advantage, According To Science

New, 2 comments

Esteemed colleague Jon Bois has concluded his landmark study on home field advantage, which is of course excellent and very much worth your click. The internet's Bois crunched the numbers to determine which cities offer their pro sports teams the best home field advantage, producing this map (click to biggify):

As you can see, Atlanta performed very well despite being a terrible sports town that does not support its teams as well as those great and classic sports towns of the northeast that we are constantly told we should be more like. Their teams are not so great at home, which is probably because they're being booed at the entire time, while our athletes can go about their business in peace and quiet. ;)

Previously at SB Nation Atlanta, we've looked into the same subject, including Georgia and Georgia Tech football in the mix. The Atlanta Hawks have the best home advantage according to both our methodology and Bois', while the Thrashers have the toughest time at home.
