Edward Salcedo In The Spotlight At Atlanta Braves Prospect Camp

Edward Salcedo may not be well known to the casual Braves fan, but I feel it's my duty to open eyes so people will realize the type of prospect their favorite team holds. Salcedo was signed to a $1.6 million bonus prior to the 2010 season and was considered equivalent to a first round pick for the Braves. My report on him can be found here.

I have Salcedo ranked fifth in the Braves system. Talking Chop has him eighth. Capitol Avenue Club has him fourth. Aside from the Braves blogs, it is rare to find Salcedo ranked in the top 10 on a Braves prospect list. This is due to questions springing from his terrible stateside debut in 2010. However, his size and raw talent is unquestioned and enough to make him top 10. Depending on how much you buy into his tools, even top five.

Us Braves blogs can only reach so many casual fans, or those not familiar with the depths of the farm system. But we now have Mark Bowman to thank for spreading the word with a great piece on Salcedo. Go check it out.

Mike Minor goes up against Kyle Drabek at Minor League Ball, regarding fantasy value in 2011. Point goes to Minor - for now.

From Talking Chop comes an update from the prospect camp. Actually, it's a link to a photo gallery with photos from the camp. It shows some great stuff from the batting cages as the prospects get some swings in.
