NFC South: I knew there had to be a locally relevant angle to the story of Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher getting fired or whatever, besides the fact that it happened just a few hours north (this is SB Nation SEC, not SB Nation South, mind you). And voila! New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is a possible candidate to replace Fisher, according to NewOrleans.com.
↵I've never been all that impressed by Williams -- his defenses thrive on hunting for turnovers rather than stopping scores. But it would bum out Saints fans if he left, so we'll accept it.
↵SEC: Cam Newton is set to unveil his new throwing motion at his Feb. 10 pro day. Obviously every day for Cam Newton has been pro day for quite some time, but this is a different kind of pro day entirely. This one will involve team scouts jostling to see which one wants to pay him money to play football. Toootally different.
↵Also, a must-read by Andy Staples on the Southeast's dominance at producing elite defensive linemen.
↵NL East: Money has an east-coast bias, as the AL East and NL East are expected to be neck-and-neck as the highest-salaried divisions in 2011.
