Jason already linked to the Baseball America Top 100 Prospects, but I'd like to get into it a little now that I'm done slaving for the day. Here's a breakdown of what we're looking at:
93. Arodys Vizcaino
86. Craig Kimbrel
37. Mike Minor
35. Randall Delgado
17. Freddie Freeman
5. Julio Teheran
This is why I love Baseball America. They know what they're doing. Vizcaino barely makes the list most likely because of injury concerns. Kimbrel makes pretty much his only appearance on a prospect list. RANDALL DELGADO finally gets some love. BA knows what the Braves have in this guy. Teheran is sitting pretty as the top pitcher.
The Braves' six total prospects on the list is third best behind the Royals (nine) and Rays (seven). The NL East is nasty with three of the top five, but the Royals just blow everyone out of the water with five in the top 20, including three in the top 10. Unreal.
Talking Chop has a couple updates that I wasn't aware of. The Yankees inquired about Tim Hudson. Good luck with that one. We have Kenshin Kawakami for sale, and I still say the Yankees should get the guy.
The Braves signed an Australian sidearmer named Andrew Russell. Looks like they're trying to get the next Peter Moylan. Russell has never pitched in the U.S., however. He will be in camp this spring and is said to be headed to AA Mississippi. Might give Cory Gearrin some competition if Moylan is ever let go.
Former Braves prospect Adam Wainwright appears to be in trouble, having to fly back to St. Louis today for an MRI on his throwing elbow after feeling discomfort. It doesn't look good for the Cardinals.
