Hank Aaron was on Late Night with David Letterman last night. Taking the stage to MC Hammer's "Hammer Time" (GET IT), Aaron got a big hug from Letterman, the kind of sincere affection the funniest man in TV history certainly doesn't show to every guest. When Aaron mentions he's still employed with the Atlanta Braves, a few cheers break out in the crowd.
Aaron talks about how getting beaned doesn't hurt all that bad, meeting his mother at home plate after breaking Babe Ruth's record, and how embarrassing he found strikeouts to be. Letterman breaks out an old photo of Aaron with Willie Mays, and Aaron presents a Topps card with Letterman's image on it.
I guess that's what he was doing on TV -- promoting Topps? He repeats the words "one on one" and points at a diamond hologram stamped in the bottom corner like it's very important.
