Braves Starter Kenshin Kawakami's Possibilities In MLB And Japan

Kenshin Kawakami was in the news today despite not doing anything. It was the result of Andy Pettitte's retirement talk, causing discussion about Kawakami being a possibility for the Yankees. I got into it here. Talking Chop discussed it here. It was mentioned on Twitter throughout the day, as well.

Ken Rosenthal also got into it. However, he mentions Japanese teams as more likely options for the Braves. This would be fine if not for Kawakami already stating he doesn't want to return to Japan, as well as Frank Wren saying he is focusing on trading Kawakami to a MLB team. Things change and this could very well happen, but it is still more likely that he remains in the U.S.

Fred McGriff is having a rough time these days. He is said to be acting in a threatening way toward his wife, and he was recently not rehired by the Rays as a special advisor in the community outreach department. But he and his wife began marriage counseling, so that's good news.

Drew Silva of Hardball Talk writes up a little something on Craig Kimbrel and Jonny Venters, stemming from David O'Brien's piece on the two relievers. In good hands, indeed.

John Sickels of Minor League Ball compares first base prospects Freddie Freeman and Brandon Belt. Both are exciting young hitters who should give their teams many good years. Thankfully one plays for the Braves.
