The Atlanta Braves have announced the date of Bobby Cox's Braves Hall of Fame ceremony: Aug. 12.
↵The game is a Friday night game against the Chicago Cubs at Turner Field. Cox will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in a luncheon prior to the game, and his No. 6 jersey will be retired in a ceremony prior to first pitch.
↵Cox compiled a career record of 4,508-2,504, including 3,860 wins in a Braves uniform. His teams won 15 division titles, five pennants and one World Series. He currently has the fourth-most wins in Major League Baseball history as a manager.
↵Cox's No. 6 will be the eighth number retired by the Braves and ninth overall. It is the third from the "The Streak" era, joining Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine. One would think John Smoltz will be next, followed by Chipper Jones and Andruw Jones when they retire. It was a tremendous era for one team in baseball. Hall of Fame voting will provide the evidence of this.
