2011 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight

↵

VCU Rams vs. Kansas Jayhawks, 2:20, CBS: Not a lot of storylines for this one. Just a team that had to win a play-in game to even make the field of 64 getting a shot at the top remaining team. Did you realize that if Kansas goes on to play No. 8 Butler in the Final Four, Butler will be the highest-seeded team they've played in the entire tournament? Of course you did.

Can the pride of the CAA get it done? Can Shaka Smart lay up even more power-conference treasures for himself? For more on this game, VCU fans should visit SB Nation DC and Mid Major Madness, and Jayhawks fans should join Rock Chalk Talk and SB Nation Kansas City.

↵

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Kentucky Wildcats, 5:05, CBS: The ACC and SEC each have only one team remaining. Would be pretty embarrassing for the Atlantic Coast to see its last team let in a SEC squad, and a downright tragedy for Georgia Tech (and thus Kennesaw State) fans hoping for a transitive property Final Four bid. Would be even more embarrassing to also see a CAA team make it in, though. So no pressure.
