After dropping three of four to the Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves appear to be back headed in the right direction with wins in the first two games of their series against the Giants that wraps up today. Atlanta is still in fourth place at 10-12 in the National League East, five full games behind the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves are just a half game back of Washington for third.
The Phillies lead the division and are red hot after winning their last four games. Philly is now 14-6 and is going for a series sweep of the San Diego Padres today. Florida is second with a 12-7 record just a game and a half behind the Phillies. The Marlins have won seven of their last ten games and wrap up their series with the Colorado Rockies today with a prime time pitching match up between Josh Johnson and Ubaldo Jimenez.
Washington checks in at 9-10 and in third place but is fading at four and a half games out after losing its last three games. The New York Mets have awakened from their early season slumber with a three game winning streak but they remain in last place with an 8-13 record. The Mets go for a series sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks later today.
