Braves Vs. Brewers Score: Jason Heyward Blast Puts Braves Within A Run At 5-4 Through Six Innings

After a two-run fifth for the Brewers, the Braves answered in the form of a three-run home run by Jason Heyward in the sixth to bring Atlanta back to within a run after six, 5-4.

Two singles by the Brewers led off the fifth and resulted in two runs when Prince Fielder singled in a run and Mark Kotsay singled in the other, though Fielder was thrown out at home and the call was missed. That proved to be big when the Braves scored three in the sixth on a home run by Heyward to bring the Braves to within a run.

Mike Minor's day ended at 4.1 innings, allowing seven hits, five runs, four walks and two strikeouts. Cristhian Martinez came in to relieve Minor in the fifth and has pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, though he allowed the hit to Kotsay that scored Fielder. He pitched a scoreless sixth.

Marco Estrada's book was closed after six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out four. He kept the ball on the corners well and avoided trouble until the Heyward blast in the sixth, which was a fastball left over the middle of the plate.
