Phillies Vs. Braves Score: Brandon Beachy Leaves Game With Oblique Strain; Game Tied At Three Through Five

Braves starter Brandon Beachy left Friday's game after the second inning with a left oblique strain, according to Mark Bowman.

Beachy apparently either hurt himself in his at-bat in the second inning or during warmups in the third inning. Oblique strains are never good news, and it's even worse for pitchers due to so much torque in their movement. If I had to guess right now, Beachy will miss at least one start.

Cristhian Martinez could stay in rotation after pitching tonight and make a spot start if Beachy is forced to miss one start. Or the Braves could go with Mike Minor. Rodrigo Lopez is another option if they want to add him to the 40-man roster. If Beachy hits the disabled list, my guess is Minor would get the call.

Martinez has filled in quite well for Beachy in this game, striking out the side in the third and pitching three scoreless innings to this point. In the fifth, Alex Gonzalez singled and Joe Mather doubled him to third. Martinez doubled home both to tie the game at three, the first career hit for the reliever.

The Braves loaded the bases with one out in the fifth, but Brian McCann grounded into a double play to end the threat. Atlanta and Philadelphia are tied 3-3 through five innings.
