Cory Gearrin Optioned, David Wright To DL, Phillies Lose Four Straight: Braves Cup Of Coffee

Recapping the news and scores for May 17:

Braves reliever Cory Gearrin was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett to make room for Julio Teheran (link). It's a tough move for Gearrin after earning his first career win the same day, but he will be back up soon.

Marlins starter Josh Johnson had his MRI results come back negative (link). He should make his next start.

Mets third baseman David Wright was placed on the 15-day DL with a stress fracture in his lower back (link). He should miss 10-15 days.

In other Mets news, Nick Evans and Ruben Tejada were recalled from Triple-A. Chin-lung Hu was sent to the minors.

- Lance Berkman hit a walk-off RBI single off J.C. Romero in the ninth.

Both the Nationals and Mets games were postponed due to rain. Jordan Zimmermann will be skipped in the Washington rotation.
