Brandon Beachy is improving from the oblique injury that forced the Braves starter to the disabled list 2-1/2 weeks ago, but there is still no time table for his return to the rotation. Beachy threw off of flat ground on Saturday and is scheduled to throw off of a mound on Monday.
In eight starts this season, Beachy has a 1-1 record with a 3.45 ERA. The Braves called up top prospect Julio Teheran to take Beachy's turn in the rotation the last time Atlanta used a fifth starter.
Beachy is eager to return but will likely require a rehab stint in the minors to help rebuild his arm strength. At this point, he and the Braves are playing it safe and trying not to risk re-injury.
"It’s feeling good, but I feel like the second I push it a little too hard is the second I knock it a month back. We’re being careful."
