Tommy Hanson Headed To DL With Shoulder Inflammation

Well this sucks.

Braves ace Tommy Hanson will be heading to the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation. He was recently scratched from his Friday night start against the Texas Rangers with shoulder discomfort. He underwent tests today which showed the inflammation, though there was no structural damage. Thank goodness.

Randall Delgado is taking Hanson's spot in the rotation for tonight and it's unclear who take his place after tonight. Brandon Beachy pitched very well in a rehab assignment on Thursday night, but he might need another start or two before returning to the Braves rotation.

Atlanta has made quite a few roster moves to accommodate all of these injuries and transactions. Brandon Hicks was sent back down to AAA for the 873rd time this season and reliever Jairo Asecncio was recalled to Atlanta to help a bullpen which has been abused the last month. He's a capable reliever and should see some time in the sixth and seventh innings.

Stayed tuned to SB Nation Atlanta and Talking Chop for more Braves coverage.
