The Braves are going for a sweep this afternoon against the Toronto Blue Jays and they're well on their way to accomplishing that sweep behind the dominating performance from Brandon Beachy.
Making his first start since coming off the DL with a strained oblique, Beachy has struck out 11 Blue Jays in just five innings on 82 pitches. He's worked off his fastball all game long and has commanded his curveball and changeup beautifully. He only made one mistake -- an elevated fastball to Jose Bautista -- which the slugging outfielder deposited into the left field seats, but has been perfect besides that.
Dan Uggla hit a monster 2-run homer in the second to give Atlanta a 2-0 lead. The home run was Uggla's first of the year against a left-handed pitcher. Brian McCann hit another homer in the third, which is his seventh in fourteen games. That's insane.
The game is heading into the sixth and Beachy is returning to the mound. You can find the game airing on Fox Sports South.
