Jordan Schafer Injury: Broken Nose Likely To Send Outfielder To The Disabled List

The Atlanta Journal Constitution's Dave O'Brien reports via Twitter that it is likely that Atlanta will place outfielder Jordan Schafer on the disabled list with a broken nose. A likely candidate to replace Schafer would be Wilkin Ramirez who is currently at Gwinnett.

It is another injury setback for Schafer who was in the midst of his second chance at the Majors and his first since 2009. He was hitting .235 with seven walks before the injury. Schafer got his call up after Nate McLouth suffered an oblique injury. McLouth is currently working out at extended spring training in Orlando but has yet to begin swinging a bat and will likely need a few games in the minors as part of a rehab assignment before returning.

Atlanta could turn to Wilkin Ramirez in the short term who had a cup of coffee with the team earlier this season. Ramirez appeared in four games for the Braves and was 1 for 3 at the plate. He is hitting .250 in 132 at bats at Gwinnett including seven home runs and 18 RBI.
