The Atlanta Braves earned the No. 28 pick in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft, with nothing changing that order for the rest of the draft's 50 rounds, according to MyMLBDraft.com. They're expected to take a high school pitcher with that first pick, as is custom, though don't be astounded if they also spend some high picks on Georgia talent, as is also custom.
Atlanta has no picks in that sandwich round following Round 1, which is pretty much just all Tampa Bay Rays picks anyway. Not really, but sort of. Gerrit Cole of the UCLA Bruins is expected to be the No. 1 pick, with Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets pitcher Jed Bradley expected to go anywhere from the top five to the end of the first round.
The draft gets underway Monday, lasting through Wednesday.
