The Atlanta Braves continued hauling in prospects in day two of the 2011 MLB Draft, though their long-standing practice of favoring high school talent has taken a year off. In addition to picking Florida St. Seminoles LHP Sean Gilmartin with their No. 28 pick, the Braves have taken only three high schoolers through 30 rounds.
Pitching hasn't been as big a focus as it's traditionally been for Atlanta, with half of their 2011 picks being used to stockpile arms. Two of their top three picks, were on infielders: Connecticut Huskies SS Nick Ahmed and Texas State 3B Kyle Kubitza. Talking Chop has scouting reports on picks two through 10 and 11 through 20, with another batch on the way. SB Nation Atlanta has more analysis of its own coming as well.
