Derek Lowe didn't allow a hit through six and a third innings, but the Braves are potentially in trouble now. Greg Dobbs broke the no-no with one out in the seventh inning and Gaby Sanchez followed with another hit to put two runners on for the first time all game for Florida. Logan Morrison grounded out weakly to move the runners into scoring position and Lowe walked John Buck before being pulled by manager Fredi Gonzalez.
Lowe pitched masterfully before leaving a few too many pitches up in the seventh and was visibly upset after being pulled from the game. He had thrown just 86 pitches. Tuesday's start was easily in his top-5 games as an Atlanta Braves.
Eric O'Flaherty struck out slugger Mike Stanton to record the final out of the seventh inning.
A win tonight would keep the Braves in sole possession of second place in the NL East with a chance to move within two games of the Philadelphia Phillies.
