MLB Trade Rumors: Carlos Beltran Is A Wanted Man

The trade rumors surrounding Carlos Beltran in the last few weeks have been wild. Just about every contending team in baseball has considered adding the talented-yet-fragile outfielder for the final two months of the season. And while it was originally thought the Mets would be looking to simply shed salary, reports indicate New York would be willing to cover most of the remaining $6 million owed to Beltran in exchange for more promising prospects.

Here is a blurb from what Baseball Nation's article had to say regarding Beltran, which originated from a report from FOX's Ken Rosenthal:

The Phillies and Red Sox are among the most aggressive suitors for Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran - if not the most aggressive, according to major-league sources.

Other clubs remain strongly in the mix for Beltran, who returned to the Mets' lineup on Tuesday night after missing three games with the flu.

As you can imagine, it will not be easy to bring Beltran to Atlanta. And with other teams likely driving up the price, it may be time to consider other options. Frank Wren will certainly keep in contact with the Mets front office, but don't be surprised to hear different names linked to the Braves in the following days. It may seem sudden, but that's how things work in the last two months of July.
