Chipper Jones Removed From DL, Returns To Atlanta Braves Lineup

After missing nearly three weeks with a torn knee meniscus, Chipper Jones is back and ready to contribute. He took batting practice this afternoon at Turner Field and is in Fredi Gonzalez's lineup for tonight's series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Chipper will handle third base and is batting third, though he'll likely move down to the fourth spot once Brian McCann returns to the lineup Tuesday night.

Welcome back to Atlanta, Chipper. The team is now as healthy and complete as it's been since breaking camp after Spring Training. The next few games could (and likely will) play a big role in what the club does at Sunday's trade deadline.

The corresponding roster move to make room for Jones has not been announced, but it appears that either Wilkin Ramirez will be sent down to Triple-A or Jordan Schafer will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with an injured wrist. There has been no word of any of roster moves...*cough* release Scott Proctor *cough*.
