Baseball America, one of the leading scouting services around, released their mid-season top-50 prospect list today. Julio Teheran was ranked 4th in all of baseball behind just Bryce Harper, Mike Trout and Matt Moore. In somewhat surprising news, Arodys Vizcaino, who was acquired from the Yankees in the Javy Lopez trade, was ranked 16th. Randall Delgado came in at No. 44 as well.
↵The rankings of Teheran and Delgado aren't surprising, but Vizcaino's ranking is about ten or fifteen spots higher than I expected him to be. While he features a full arsenal of plus-pitches and the frame to potentially be a front-of-the-rotation pitcher one day, durability is a pretty big issue. He has battled elbow injuries in the past and most feel he is destined for Tommy John Surgery one day. If he can stay relatively healthy, though, Atlanta has a very promising prospect in Vizcaino.
↵Among the NL East teams, the Phillies have two players listed (Singleton, Cosart), the Marlins have none, the Mets have one (Harvey), and the Nationals have one (Harper).
