Tommy Hanson Injury: Shoulder Tendinitis Sends Atlanta Braves Pitcher To DL

Atlanta placed starting pitcher Tommy Hanson on the disabled list Sunday with tendinitis in his shoulder. Hanson was placed on the 15-day DL retroactively to August 7.

Braves beat writer David O'Brien reports that the Atlanta Braves have placed injured starter Tommy Hanson on the 15 day disabled list retroactive to August 7.

Hanson has posted an 8.10 ERA in five starts since the All-Star break and an MRI exam revealed tendinitis in his throwing shoulder. This will be Hanson's second stint on the disabled list this season sitting out for a portion of June with the same injury. Hanson's turn in the rotation will be on Tuesday and no replacement starter has been announced as of yet. 

On the season, Hanson has an 11-7 record with a 3.60 ERA. He has struck out 142 batters in 130 innings this season while only walking 46. 

 To make room on the roster for Scott Linebrink, Atlanta has also optioned Anthony Varvaro to Triple-A Gwinnett.
