Dan Uggla Wins NL Player Of The Month, Craig Kimbrel Wins Rookie Of The Month

Dan Uggla and Craig Kimbrel have both received big awards for their performances in August.

Uggla, who saw his 33-game hitting streak snapped last month, continued his excellence at the plate and finished the month with a stellar slash line of .340/.405/.670. His 10 home runs led the entire league and he drove in 21 runs as well. For a guy who had three miserable months to start the season, Uggla's turnaround in 2011 has been something to behold.

Kimbrel, who has all-but-clinched the NL Rookie of the Year award as well, was dominant in August and did not allow an earned run to score in 12.2 innings of work. The closer recorded 10 saves, had a league-best K/9 ratio of 16.34, and continued to keep runners off base with a WHIP of 0.79.

A big congratulations to both players for their awards. The Braves went 18-9 in August and it could have been without these two players and their big months. Let's win a few more awards in September, eh?
