Atlanta Braves Release New Alternative Uniforms, Will Wear On Weekends At Home

More: Photos of the Braves new Alternate Uniforms

Rumors had trickled out a few weeks ago that the Atlanta Braves would be unveiling a new alternative uniform to wear in 2012 and beyond. On Monday morning with various players, coaches and front office members in attendance, the club will officially release the cream colored uniforms and their plans going forward with the new digs. Here is a look at the schedule for the upcoming season:

  • When playing at home Monday through Thursday, the team will wear their tradition white uniforms.
  • When playing at home on Friday, they will wear their red jerseys with white pants and alternative cap. This used to be the attire for Sunday home games.
  • On Saturdays and Sundays at Turner Field, the Braves will wear their new uniforms. They will wear their traditional home ball cap.
  • On the road, the starting pitcher will still have his choice between wearing either the grey or blue uniforms. It seems like many of the starting pitchers now prefer the blue uniforms that were released a few years ago, but that may just be selective memory on my part.

My initial reaction to the new uniforms is that they're pretty slick and I'm a big fan. I also like that the club will keep around their red uniforms, which were rumored to be nixed with the new uniforms coming out in 2012.

The Braves will officially unveil the uniforms to the media at 10 a.m. ET. They will surely go on sale both online and at the team store within a matter of weeks, if not sooner.
