Chipper Jones Injury Update: Braves Star Slated To Return For Home Opener

According to a tweet from @Braves, it appears Chipper Jones is expected to return to the team in time for the home opener on Friday, April 13th, as the Braves will take on the Milwaukee Brewers.

In what will be his 19th and final season for Atlanta, Jones is rebounding from a knee injury that was just reported on Saturday morning. Apparently it took place Thursday prior to his announcement that 2012 would be his final season in the major leagues.

Turning 40 in April, Jones has been an All-Star seven times, and was the National League Most Valuable Player in 1999. It was a season in which he hit .319/.441/.633, while hitting 45 home runs and finishing with 110 RBI.

For his career, Jones has appeared in 2387 games, with a career average of .304/.402/.533. He has amassed 2615 career hits, 454 home runs, and 1561 RBI.
